Cathy was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia.

In 1987, she moved to New York City to pursue a modeling career. By the end of 1988 she had been photographed by Richard Avedon for the cover of American Vogue and the Most Unforgettable Women Revlon campaign, as well as appeared in Foreigner’s Say You Will music video. Cathy has been featured in Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Chatelaine, Elle, Glamour, Marie Claire, and Self magazines, to name a few. 

Cathy’s clients have included Bill Blass, Cover Girl, DKNY, Georges Marciano, Gucci, Guy Laroche, L’Oreal, Max Mara, Ralph Lauren, and many others. She has worked with some of the most renowned fashion photographers including Patrick Demarchelier, Arthur Elgort, Sheila Metzner, Matthew Rolston, Francesco Scavullo, Steven Klein, Steven Meisel, Olivier Toscani, Albert Watson, and Bruce Weber.

Her travel experiences broadened after she became an international fashion model. She has explored six continents including 50 countries, nine Canadian provinces/territories, eight Chinese provinces/municipalities, and 40 U.S. states thus far.

After her first son was born, Cathy returned to college. In 2015 she graduated magna cum laude at NYU with a BA in creative writing and literature. Her photographs, poetry, prose, and travel articles have been published in Canada, New Zealand, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the United States. “Annie’s Rings”, a short story, is included in the anthology Before They Were Our Mothers: Voices of Women Born Before Rosie Started Riveting, edited by Patricia A. Nugent.

Cathy is a Society of American Travel Writers member and Founding Board Member of LAFW Society.
